Mate's not always a friendly term. And I want to stick to that, I really do, but I can't go off and start sounding my nearest alarm just because all the signs point to getting a lovely dagger in the back. Doesn't matter what I feel about it, there's more than just me relying on what I say.

I unintentionally brought about your death and delayed your recovery. Or do you mean after that?

What? No I meant all the hiding what you'd been doing and the fight...

How you said you would stop manipulating people, but then just kept it from me. At least, that's what it looks like to me. This is one of the times where I'd very much like to be wrong.

Do you not trust me? Do you require me to say everything under oath or worse? We have already discussed this. I was not lying then, although you seem to need me to remind you of that.

I'm not going to say I'm blameless in this, but neither are you. You know how these sort of things are horrible, and yeah something had a hold of me that day, but I meant what I said. You never explained how you weren't hiding it and let's be honest, when it looks like you've been going behind my back it's rather hard to trust you completely. Trust isn't something that just comes back on it's own, Cesare, you've got to earn it or prove that I shouldn't have mistrusted you in the first place.

You are right, it does not come back so easily.

I am here, speaking candidly in the open with you, because as wrong as you are about many things, there is at least one I agree with you on. I recognize that I have lost your trust and for that I truly am sorry. For most subjects you were a fine teacher and you have been very patient with me. You are a good person, Shaun, and I have put you through much. Perhaps I even took advantage of you, although not in the way you are afraid of.

As for your concerns, I do not feel that I have done anything wrong, save for allow the situation to grow out of hand. I have made an effort to listen to you and to take your concerns to heart.
