Camp AU Event

[Very late in the week of the AU event, (college!)Cesare has gone in search of (future!)Alvis. Some of the novelty of this strange zombie summer camp has worn off but he remembers her vanship and just how exhilarating that was. Besides, she is company who isn't a) his actual professor or b) his not actual(?) brother. It's a nice clear day. A day for adventure.]

Alvis! You don't have plans, do you? [hope you are okay with this kid confidently inserting himself into them]

[well that's an in if he ever saw one! Opening iTunes again and passing the phone over to her, taking her free hand with his and intertwining their fingers]

[Oooo, technology! ...Oh! Hand! She's red right up to the tips of her pointy ears but Alvis doesn't mind it so she goes along happily. Cesare is interesting, good looking, and seems to enjoy adventure too.]

[Scrolling how she's seen him operate the phone and she picks a song purely by how the words look.]

Do you have dances to these songs?

[it's more music like what you might find in a club, for the most part

short laugh] I don't think it's what you have in mind. Most dancing where I am from isn't choreographed unless it's for a formal performance.

...It kind of sounds like my vanship when the engine isn't running quite right...

[playful nudge] Most of what I have on here is to play at parties, so there's quite a lot with a heavy base.

Ahhh~ School and parties. What a life you must lead -- such suffering.

It's such a great difficulty. [said with an overly dramatic air] You'll have to visit so I can have an excuse to escape from it all.

If your really looking to escape then shouldn't you be visiting me? Or are you afraid it would be too smelly, what with all those unwashed bodies and poor hygiene?

It must be quite a place to produce such a beautiful and daring ambassador-cum-pilot. Tell me more about it so I know what to expect when I show up at your door.

How very nice but it didn't produce me at all. How are you so confident that you can say those things so easily?

[maleborgia]

I know it is a cliche, but you do only live once. Why should we hold ourselves back? If I fail I want to know it was on my own merit, not because I was too afraid to try at all.

...That's true. I like that. It's very brave of you.

All games aside, tell me more about where you are from. You know a little of my world but I know next to nothing of yours.

[Club thumping music is turned down a little so she can think and Alvis releases his hand to instead take his elbow]

It's very beautiful -- I love it with my whole heart. My family has a big farm where they grow wheat and other vegetables, living quietly. There's a large body of water nearby called the Grand Lake and it's very important to all of the countries it borders. Whenever I get the chance, I like to go home and lie out in the wheat on the hills overlooking the lake because it reminds me exactly of my dreams when I was a little girl, before we lived there.

The cities in my country are very young but some of the surrounding countries are older than even records show. Ades and Turan are very beautiful and have incredible architecture and such green countrysides. Glacies is completely frozen but they have wonderful hotsprings. Hmm... what else...

[walking a little slower since she has his arm, wanting to make it easy for her to continue to hold it]

The Grand Lake? If our maps overlap like you say, then I wonder if that is the Meriterranean. In Latin the name means "in the middle of the land" because of its prominent location and importance to the peoples surrounding it, just like you describe.

Mmn, it is landlocked... It's very interesting that we would have the same geographical areas but different names.

That is interesting. I wonder why that is... I don't know of any frozen areas around the sea, though. Where is Glacies?

Across the lake and to the north-west.

North-west... The south-east? Northern Africa?

[A puzzled look? And they WILL eventually arrive at the hangar. Just as she said, her vanship is parked outside the building]

Glacies is in the north-west for me. We can sit down later and look at maps, if you'd like?

Every time you take my phone to look at a map you turn it upside down. If your home is where you say it is and your coordinates are correct, then Glacies must be somewhere over Egypt. It's largely a desert country, save for the area near the Nile, and there is certainly no snow and ice. I would be very interested in looking over a map with you later--it seems that there are just as many differences as similarities here.
