Camp AU Event

[Very late in the week of the AU event, (college!)Cesare has gone in search of (future!)Alvis. Some of the novelty of this strange zombie summer camp has worn off but he remembers her vanship and just how exhilarating that was. Besides, she is company who isn't a) his actual professor or b) his not actual(?) brother. It's a nice clear day. A day for adventure.]

Alvis! You don't have plans, do you? [hope you are okay with this kid confidently inserting himself into them]

[Stretching her arms and she shakes herself off]

The best one yet... No problem. You'd better put on your seatbelt~

[buckling up]

I'm ready. [turning the camera on already]

[Alright, it's go time. Alvis hits the throttle and they go rocketing back towards the cliffs and ocean. However this time, instead of immediately diving, Alvis overshoots and then the nose of the vanship tips up... Climbing higher and higher and she begins a tight spiral before finally reaching the summit. They tip backwards and freefall until the craft is vertical and Alvis guns it into a dive. They meet up with the cliff face once more as it rushes by in a blur, the water meeting them in just a few seconds. Alvis lets off the accelerator long before and, mindful of not her passenger's safety, she pulls up well before reaching the water. They skim along the surface once they're righted, kicking up a wake behind them]

[Cesare will later deny that the shout heard in the background when they start to freefall is from him--or at least that it was partially an automatic expression of panic--, but the rest of the footage is glorious, if jerky, and he twists around to get a shot of the wake as well, swearing loudly]

[A quick glance back when she hears the shout, just to make sure he's still inside, but otherwise Alvis lets him enjoy it. It's an easy going flight back to the beach and Camp, with her grinning the entire time]

[he stops recording only once the vanship comes to a halt and then the phone is gone and he is unbuckling his seatbelt and standing in great excitement to talk to her over the top of her seat]

That was fantastic! Ha! No roller coaster could ever compare! Is that the sort of thing they teach their children learning to fly where you are from? You must have nerves of steel!

[Turning a little so he's not looming over her]

Ehehe, I think it depends on your instructors. Mine may have been a special case.

Ah, no no... My nerves are far from steel. It's just that I love flying so much -- being up in the wide, open sky where absolutely everything is peaceful and you can do whatever you'd like... To me, it's perfect.

[leaning back a little and looking up]

I can see why you think so. That freedom... It's exhilarating.

[keytoexilellence]

Was that a good enough second look at this place?

[maleborgia]

It was perfect. [discarding the helmet and goggles, hopping out of the vanship and extending his hand for her] Let me repay you somehow.

[keytoexilellence]

[Out she goes! Alvis doesn't exactly need the help down but it is very nice of him and she accepts anyway]

I AM hungry...

[maleborgia]

[back to holding her hand as they walk back towards the buildings]

It's too bad the selection here isn't very impressive. I can at least offer you a nicer setting to eat in than the mess hall.

Alright! I'll trust you with it then. And as for the food... I'm not picky at all. It just has to be... Not what was served Tuesday.

[maleborgia]

...Right. I think I can manage that much. Let's see what is available that will be easy enough to carry with us.

[keytoexilellence]

I've had a lot of practice -- I can hold a lot of food.

[maleborgia]

[laughs] You were teasing me about going to parties, but what do you do for fun or in your free time? When you are not up in the sky, that is.

[keytoexilellence]

Ah... Really, I just go home. I don't go out very often.

[maleborgia]

At home, then. Do you read? Draw?

[keytoexilellence]

Mmn, I read, yes. But usually I spend more time visiting with my family, making meals, walking through the hills that surround the area... We fly a bit, play games, and that type of thing.

[Taking his arm once more and standing straighter when they get into Camp Proper]

[maleborgia]

[pleased that she's willing to be seen with him like this, and it gives him a little extra swagger of confidence as they head towards the mess hall] What is your family like? Is it large?

[keytoexilellence]

[Eventually Ceare's ego grows so large, it takes over Camp and destroys them all. There was no way AU Alvis could know the disaster and tragedy she was reaping]

It seems like it gets larger and larger every day! It takes two armies to keep me out of trouble. And they're the most wonderful people anyone could hope to have -- I suppose you could say I was adopted and they've always given me the best.

What about yours?

[maleborgia]

Not as large as yours, by the sound of it. I have two other younger siblings apart from the brother I mentioned to you, and two half-sisters from my father's previous marriage.

[keytoexilellence]

You're the eldest then?

Ah... And I know we're supposed to be having fun, and I hope you don't mind me asking... Are you worried about being trapped here?

[maleborgia]

Of my full-siblings? Yes, I am.

[pause, looking up briefly while he considers that] As for that... I am concerned, of course. I heard others talk about how long they have been here, but those same people also insist there is some pattern you come to see and that it makes it clear that neither of us are going to be here for very long. As for now, I don't know what I could do other than wait and hope they are correct. If too much more time passes I will start to worry more seriously, but the novelty of this place has not yet worn off and I have to admit that I am having much more fun here than I would be back in England. Right now I am more afraid that I will forget it all.

Mmn, I feel the same way. I'm worried about being away and how long I'll miss everyone... But also worried that I'm not as upset as I SHOULD be. I'm having a lot of fun and it's kind of like a vacation.
