Travel Pics: Pisa
Cesare's canon takes place largely in Pisa, where his university is, and so I might have convinced Dad that we needed to train over to Pisa for one of our two days in Florence without explaining why I wanted to go there so badly.

Pisa!
I didn't know, but apparently Pisa a) is tiny and b) has its most famous stuff all in one place. In terms of canon, this field is also where the mock battle took place.
There's a building in the background of that manga scan below the large picture that corresponds with the current archbishop's palace, ie where Cesare would have been living. Took me a while to figure that out when I was there. >> But I don't have any good pictures of it up because I'm almost positive it is either newer or has been very much renovated.
I totally walked in there anyway.
This is the cathedral you can see next to the leaning tower!

cathedral!

canon lies, that ceiling wasn't there at that point

more!

and more!
Cesare went there too. I realized, I've been to a cathedral, a chapel, and a church that Cesare set foot in. I should win some sort of bingo or something...
My own private goal was to find this:

this
That's the oldest university still standing in Italy (actually, it's now just one building of the University of Pisa) and where Cesare attended school and got his doctorate in canon law. I walked in there! I was too nervous to do more than walk around the courtyard, but that's definitely it. I walked in there. I didn't know where it was, but I remembered what the map at the start of each of the volumes looks like, so I tried to go based off of what that told me. I'm pretty impressed I managed to find it. XD;;
Seriously, I stood right there do you know how many other people afjkkaljfs Machiavelli also went to school here, and Leo X ahhhhhh my god.
Ahem.
Anyway, I also ended up walking by the old Medici palace in Pisa, which comes up a couple times in canon, too. It's the police HQ now, so I couldn't just walk into that one. >>

I think there's a better panel of it somewhere...
I also found where I think Angelo was supposed to have gotten pushed into the river. It's not really... basically anywhere along here would work, but I think this is where she meant.

Anyway, yes! Pisa! It was like my Disneyland, unless my Disneyland was Roma or Viana! Anyway it was awesome to find so many things from canon. |D I was super tempted to buy a university hoodie and I'm still a little disappointed that I didn't, but the pictures are better and I was nervous I wouldn't be able to find the university in particular. ♥
