10k meme
Cesare passed 10k on Dreamwidth! Good an excuse as any for a meme.
ASK A QUESTION, it can be anything CFUD related. OOC, IC, relationship/first impressions, psychology, thoughts, whatever. I.E. My character's opinion of your character (relationships and whatnot) or maybe what you have been wondering about this behavior or that, or general thoughts on my characters or canons, Hot or Not, You Should Jump Me, App My Canon, whatever you want to ask for. WHEN I REPLY, I will also ask you a question in turn! If we can think of questions anyway who knows.
LET ME ESSAY AT YOU. I have a bunch of studying to get done and I'd like something to distract myself with on occasion. :)

So Cesare always thought Natsumi was attractive, he just wasn't always... attracted to her? I guess might be the best way to say this? I think their first thread was a mind-reading one where his thought that she heard was that he thought she was attractive. Not like beautiful or gorgeous or sexy, just yeah. Anyway, that was supposed to be a joke, I swear. >_>
I'm not sure why they started building proper CR, though I suspect on an OOC note I think it was about this time that I realized that most of Cesare's CR in Camp was male and I wanted to fix that. And I don't know what it was about Cesare that clicked on Natsumi's end, but I know that on his one of the things he liked was that she was willing to listen when he wanted to explain how his point of view was different and she was willing to make the effort to understand.
That's what he's told people, actually, the few times he's been asked why he likes her (whether or not they know who she actually is). I forget who this thread was with, but his answer was that she understands more than he thought possible. What he means by that is that she is open to new ideas and different interpretations, even if she doesn't always agree or fully get it. He wouldn't want her to always agree with him, anyway. That's not interesting! He likes that they don't always see eye to eye and even more than that he likes that she doesn't invalidate his opinions. One of the problems he runs into (both in canon and Camp) is that what he believes doesn't line up with what the majority opinion is and people argue that he's wrong. Not just that they disagree but that he is wrong, 100%, and once that comes up it's a brick wall. For all of Cesare's issues, he's very good about relativism. It doesn't matter to him if you don't agree with what he thinks is right--just as long as you accept that he might be right just as you might be right. He really appreciates that Natsumi has never tried to make him feel invalidated, even though they've argued over some potentially hot-button topics.
That's actually the biggest thing here. :|b He respects her a lot for it and it made him feel closer to her. But the Tsukasa thing is also interesting, so I'll talk about that too.
Tsukasa's behavior helped in that it was pretty much fit the mould of "what you do not do with the lady you like". Cesare's from a much more, ah, demonstrative culture, one that really places emphasis on men being with women. To him, Tsukasa basically had a good thing and was just throwing it away. What a waste. He didn't have anything against him, though, and Natsumi said she liked him, so he decided to help rather than get in the way. Tsukasa obviously needed some walking through how to behave appropriately, but that's okay, he has other CR in Camp that's needed the same help. He was bored. It seemed like a fun game.
It really was a game for him, right up until he decided to stop. That is to say, all the times Cesare was saying he'd help, he really was trying to help. He's not interested in deception for this sort of thing. That time that he got the "confess your love OR ELSE" paper that he tossed out was really the turning point here. It was blank and he realized he could have put Tsukasa's name on it and strong armed him into taking Natsumi out or being nice to her or something, but he didn't want to. Being attracted to someone really isn't a Big Deal for him--it's not something he's going to angst about. It was more that he didn't realize quite how far it had gone until then, but once he did he wasn't about to play around and subtly try to undermine things. That's just not how he rolls.
In that same post, Spain told him basically to step up his game and make a show of it and he agreed. He waited around only because if you're going to do something, do it right. Go big or go home. I don't know how much Natsumi picked up on it in the couple of weeks between then and their last thread but he was really stepping up his game. He knew exactly what he was doing with the flowers and the hand holding, even if he was carded for some of it--that just made him louder about it, and more willing to diss Tsukasa to make himself look better.
Um... Yeah that might be about it. Basically he likes her. Oh! Do you remember the mindrun where Natsumi was shown around Rome by the tiny? That's when he first started to realize, although he was already used to liking her as a friend and thinking she was attractive in general, so he didn't fully get it until later.
Reverse me? How much of what was going on was Natsumi aware of?
