IC: Boar Hunting

*Camp's a farm, right? And you know what farms have? Pigs.

The ones in Camp are a little... different from the cute, not-by-the-hair-on-my-chinney-chin-chin ones some of you might be more familiar with, however...

One way or another, it's clearly the time for a boar hunt. Clearly. And somewhere away from the center of Camp are two people on horses looking to do just that.*

Right, because nobody other than me thought it'd be a good idea to double up.

If you would care to remount, you and Fenris could form one team and Hawke and myself could form the second. I know you were eager to get some more riding practice in, and this looks like it will be an excellent opportunity.

Hawke and myself are accustomed to functioning as a team.

We are, but I wouldn't be against trying something new.

[Sighs and gives fenris a "sorry, I tried" shrug]

Excellent. Now that is decided, shall we be off? Does anyone have a preference in which way the groups will be headed?

You may choose whatever direction you prefer. [Fenris glares at Hawke.] I intend to follow the scent trail.

[Hawke grins back at him. Cheekily.]

Well then, all the better if there's less of us to block your senses, no?

Then let us split up. *gestures for Hawke to come with him* If you would kindly come with me, Lady Hawke.

[You know, Hawke, while Fenris is a wolf, you're not going to get possessively walled later no matter how much you flirt . . . Fenris stalks in the direction he can smell the boar, gait stiff-legged and clearly aggravated.] We're going, Shaun.

You are a historian, you said. Will you be any good when it come to killing the beast, Shaun? [Fenris has his nose to the ground, smelling out the direction of the beast; after a moment, his tail flags and he sets out in a quick trot.]

I've got a basic idea of how to put a bullet in an animal's head, thanks.

Bullets are used in guns, is that correct? Garrus explained a bit about those to me. They are not something my world has.

Just "Hawke" is fine, I'm fairly certain one's nobility is revoked when one becomes a fugitive.

yeah. It's a rather simple thing really, a bit of gunpowder like you use in a canon sets off a small explosion in the muzzle, which propels a piece of metal into the nearest thing you aim it at.

Temporarily, perhaps, but not on a deeper level. Are the two of you on the run together?

We are. Along with a few other friends, although they weren't brought here with us.

[fistingthing]

Yes, so he explained. The Qunari have cannon, but to my knowledge, even they have never learned how to make a cannon so small it can be held in the hand. And they are the only ones who know the secret to making explosive powder that uses no magic or lyrium. It is a secret they guard most closely.

(ooc: Kindly ignore the bit where Fenris temporarily forgot the Qunari have cannons in his conversation with Garrus about it. He wasn't really in his best state of mind at the time. >_> Or at least, that's my excuse . . .)

It doesn't need much, just a bit of chemistry.

[snorts] I would assume as much, but no one else has been able to discover the formula.

[Fenris pauses, snuffling the ground.] So many dogs.

You must share quite a bond with them. And Fenris? How did you two meet?

God it's... Wait I know this, sulfur charcoal and something else. I forget how they treat it though.

Camp's got a lot of them, what do you think happens to all of those adorable puppies everyone seems to find?

Is this common knowledge in your home?

I was not aware people found puppies frequently. But that is the way of it. Where there are dogs, they breed and make more puppies. I will advise Hawke to keep an eye on Rabbit.
